Business Use Case Introduction
Current Position - What is the challenge?
During transportation, logistics partners need to upload attachments to a specific Transportation Order. But the logistics partners' employees don’t have a user account in SAP S/4HANA or SAP S/4HANA Cloud. They send attachments to the company’s logistic clerk, who then uploads the attachments manually into SAP S/4HANA. It's risky for a company to create a user account in SAP S/4HANA or SAP S/4HANA Cloud for the logistic vendor, since a company can't expose the core system to external partners.
Destination - What is the outcome?
The transportation order attachments are uploaded in a timely fashion and can be viewed by the customer and logistics partner. The PDF attachments are stored in the SAP Document Management service and the customer can define the storage period based on legal requirements. The logistics team can manage attachments for freight orders themselves. This keeps the core clean and doesn’t cause problems for SAP S/4HANA Cloud upgrades in the future.
How You Get There - What is the solution?
The customer will deploy an application in SAP BTP with freight order data from SAP S/4HANA Cloud or SAP S/4HANA OP or PCE. The logistic partner's employee can use the application to upload attachments for freight orders. The customer exposes only limited freight order data to their partners. The customer keeps the core system clean and safe. The customer's employees can check attachments for freight orders in real-time.
