The Smart Press Shop GmbH & Co. KG, a joint venture for Porsche and Schuler's body parts production, have created the basis for close cooperation by introducing SAP S/4HANA Cloud Essentials and the SAP Digital Manufacturing for Execution in discrete manufacturing. The aim of the sports car manufacturer and the forming specialist is to make the production of body parts at the press shop in “Halle an der Saale” more flexible and digital - on the basis of an SAP system from a single source. The factory is live since 2021, employs more than 100 workers and operates autonomously as far as possible. The entire SAP system runs completely in the SAP Public Cloud - without a local on-premises installation. Smart Press Shop is managing mostly without its own IT team and works closely with partners for the operation of the system as an application-based managed service after the go-live in February 2021.
