John Markoff is a Pulitzer Prize-winning American journalist best known for his distinguished coverage of technology and its impact on society. During his nearly three decades at The New York Times, he reported on the rise of Silicon Valley, cybersecurity threats, and the evolution of artificial intelligence, often blending deep technical understanding with broader social analysis.

Markoff is also the author of several influential books, including "What the Dormouse Said: How the Sixties Counterculture Shaped the Personal Computer Industry" and "Machines of Loving Grace: The Quest for Common Ground between Humans and Robots", and is widely recognized for shaping public conversation around the ethical implications of emerging technologies. He was part of the New York Times team that won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting for their coverage of the business practices of Apple and other technology companies.
