And a platform that pays homage to the people behind who saw these projects through.

Business Transformation: Enterprise Solutions

This year’s Business Transformation: Enterprise Solutions Award goes to GasNet from the Czech Republic!

The energy giant convinced our jurors with the implementation of SAP S/4HANA, which has replaced the energy company’s legacy ESM system as required by their investor. GasNet has also implemented a number of supporting products, such as SAP Analytics Cloud for analytical functions, iRPA for robotics automation, Ariba for purchasing functions and DocuSign for electronic signatures.

“The main objective was not to introduce some completely new function, but to implement a greenfield solution and stay at the same efficiency level.”

~ Hana Mala, ESM Project Manager at GasNet

The project was especially demanding due to its scope, hence the SAP Active Methodology was utilized to effectively manage all the stages of the project. Because of time constraints – GasNet only had 1.5 years from the project definition to its delivery – an agile approach was used, allowing the project team to oversee the progress and test the business demo on a three-week basis.

In future, GasNet will focus predominantly on technical asset management and on ensuring ESG compliance, paving the way to a sustainable future with new energy products, such as hydrogen.

Business Transformation: Functional Transformation

The Grand Winner in the Business Transformation: Functional Transformation category is Raben Services Management from Poland!

The logistics company has completely overhauled their HR processes with SAP SuccessFarctors, providing a single and comprehensive environment to support their employees, HR teams and managers. The implemented modules include Employee Central, Employee Central Payroll, Performance & Goals as well as Succession & Development.

To ensure efficient project management, a detailed project schedule was drawn up and the SAP Active Methodology was employed, splitting the project into four stages: Prepare, Explore, Realize and Deploy. During the implementation, results, problems and errors were recorded in a dedicated system, allowing the project team to monitor the progress of development and testing.

“We have increased the accuracy of data and the transparency of our processes, reduced the time the HR team spends on routine and manual tasks, and cut down the time spent by managers on administrative tasks and performance management.”

~ Anita Koralewska-Ratajczak, Head of HR at Raben Group

Now, Raben Management Services can focus on the next stage, defining the countries where the new system will be rolled out and the modules that have to be implemented to provide all the desired functionalities.

Rapid Time to Value

The recipient of the 2022 Rapid Time to Value Award is Dormer Pramet from the Czech Republic!

Dormer Pramet is a leading manufacturer of cutting tools for the engineering industry. As the company operates in multiple countries with different practices and legacy systems, it was a challenge to provide their customers worldwide with a unified customer experience and detailed information about their products – an obstacle they ultimately overcame with SAP Commerce Cloud.

“We didn’t want to build a car because we could have ended up only with the chassis. Instead, we opted to build a scooter and, when we learn how to ride it, we can trim it up into a motorbike.”

~ Vítězslav Jersák, System Owner at Dormer Pramet

The major constraint in the project implementation was time since Dormer Pramet only had four months to deliver the first phase of the project. In order to ensure a timely project implementation, they put together a team of internal experts who joined forces with SAP implementation partner Actum Digital and successfully saw the project through.

With the new e-commerce platform up and running, Dormer Pramet has already tripled the share of their online sales but they still have a long way to go. It is now up to their marketing and communications teams to spread the word of the new e-commerce platform among their customers and leads.

Digital Pioneer

The Grand Winner in the brand new Digital Pioneer award category goes to Hungrana from Hungary!

The company, which operates in the food and chemical industry, has convinced our jury members with their SAP Plant Maintenance 4.0 project, which was aimed at modernizing their existing SAP Plant Maintenance system, increasing the transparency of workflows and processes and introducing paperless business processes.

The project team followed a set of quality principles that ensured a successful implementation. These included active cooperation with regularly held meetings, organizational change management that introduced a new maintenance team, business agility with a supportive management attitude, SAP Active Methodology for delivering system features in small parts, and the establishment of new communication channels.

Aside from the set objectives, most of which were achieved successfully, the major benefits of the project include a newly introduced SAP Asset Manager in combination with an easy-to-use RFID system, which has greatly improved the efficiency and productivity of the Hungrana plant.

Nevertheless, this was only a pilot project for Hungrana, which only pertained to one part of the factory. In the future, Hungrana plans to expand the plant maintenance project to all of their factory operations.

In parallel with Maintenance 4.0, Hungrana implemented another SAP project – Integrated Health, Safety and Environment Management that was also awarded with the title Winner of the Digital Pioneer category. Aside from ensuring full compliance with the Hungarian legislation in the environmental protection, the project also provides a financial edge to company since it allows them to avoid fines and access loans with considerably lower interest rates.
