Both are involved in development activities with this major project and take responsibility in the newly founded OpenSearch Software Foundation. This webinar was with Georgi Hristov, Licensing Specialist and Legal Counsel, SAP. You might learn how to use Generative AI effectively and in a legally compliant way. Georgi, who is an Open Source Champion at SAP, gave an overview of the EU legal environment, surrounding AI, talked about restrictions and obligations of licenses used for AI components and gave you examples of technical and regulatory solutions to avoid IP infringement.

The SAP Open Source Program Office hosted a webinar with Fabian Lehmann and Liza Pilarczyk, SAP about BTP Solution Diagram Repository. This repository contains an updated design guideline, examples, and libraries to use this in the open source diagramming tool draw.io.

Liza and Fabian gave an overview about this new central entry point and gave insights how this activity is connected with SAP BTP Reference architectures in SAP Discovery Center and how we collaborate with LeanIX in this area.

The SAP Open Source Program Office hosted a webinar with Thomas Fiedler, Product Owner of ABAP development tools, ABAP Platform; and Bjoern Juelinger, Product Owner of ABAP test cockpit, ABAP Platform about "code pal", the second open source tool which supports the adoption of Clean ABAP.

Thomas and Bjoern will show you how the ABAP test cockpit can help you to easily integrate the Clean ABAP rules into your development. You will also see how the ABAP test cockpit quick fixes can automate and speed up your code adaption to Clean ABAP. 

The SAP Open Source Program Office hosted a webinar with Jörg-Michael Grassau, initiator of the ABAP cleaner tool and Senior Developer for S/4 HANA at SAP; about the open-source project ABAP cleaner.

ABAP cleaner is a configurable tool with the ambition to automate whatever can be automated with respect to ABAP code style.

The SAP Open Source Program Office hosted a webinar with Ingo Kober, Product Owner at SAP, and Jason Kafka, Engineering Manager at SAP about the Open Component Model (OCM) project and how the team navigated through a development culture clash for effective collaboration.

Ingo and Jason explained the capabilities of this open-source project and how to use it. They also shared some insights about their open-source journey with OCM and what they think about different development cultures.

Open-source communities are as different as the projects themselves and their evolvement and interaction largely depend on a few individuals, who orchestrate and support the community with different approaches.

In this webinar, Karsten Hohage (also host of the SAP Open Source Podcast series) moderated a panel discussion with three community experts. They talked about different channels and ways to interact or reach out to potential audiences of open-source projects, the goals of evolving a project’s community, and the challenges of scalable community management in an enterprise context.

The SAP Open Source Program Office hosted a webinar with Thorsten Duda, Product Owner at the Continuous Integration and Delivery Service and contributor to Project Piper at SAP, about project “Piper”, a Continuous Integration and Delivery open source project.

Thorsten discussed how SAP is leveraging its inhouse development tooling to support customers and partners with developing fast and high quality for cloud. Project "Piper" started as an InnerSource project, powering most SAP-internal (non-ABAP) CI/CD pipelines and was open sourced in 2017.

Sebastian talked about SAP’s "outbound" process that enables teams to start open-source projects or to contribute to existing projects. He explained already implemented and planned measures and developments and shared his experiences and best practices. These include the mandatory use of the Free Software Foundation Europe's REUSE tool and the full automation of our compliance rule checking for all open source repositories.
