Since retiring from the Navy in 2007 and joining Caterpillar, he has held positions as Six Sigma Black Belt and manufacturing engineer manager at a Track-Type Tractor Assembly and Paint facility in East Peoria, IL. In 2012, he became operations manager for a Caterpillar Track Components (CTC) facility in Danville, KY, which went live with SAP software shortly after his arrival. CTC Danville was one of the top SAP go-live facilities in 2012, and the facility quickly emerged as a leader in SAP operational excellence SAP. Marty became the facility manager in 2014 and with his team developed an extensive manufacturing intelligence suite for quality, operations, and supply chain. In 2015, Marty was selected to manage global ERP deployment and support for Global Information Systems (GIS) and was responsible for all ERP deployments, manufacturing intelligence, and manufacturing services support for the enterprise. Marty is currently leading an SAP co-innovation project in the Business Construction Products (BCP) facility in Athens, GA, which manufactures mini-hydraulic excavators and small track-type tractors. The “Live Factory” projects at BPC are incorporating four cloud products leveraging SAP Leonardo capabilities as well as several other IoT technology capabilities. BCP is creating a digital thread from the customer retail system through the entire supply chain. The systems will create a common operating environment focused on shop-floor-to top-floor linkage of operational and tactical plans to strategic plans.
