Leadership Theater Session Day 1 - Does Culture Eat Strategy for Breakfast?

Called into Uber amidst a leadership crisis, Frances Frei helped the executive team revamp the corporate culture and accelerate the development of their executives. Frei follows up on her main stage appearance at SuccessConnect 2017 and shares insights about how the best leaders build purpose-driven cultures, accelerate the development of executives, and create truly diverse teams. Frances is joined by Penny Stoker, Global Leader of HR Services at EY, to discuss the importance and impact of executive learning and leadership reskilling at their organizations. This session will include a moderated Q&A with the audience.

*All Attendees must go through metal detectors upon entrance into the Park Theater. In order to expedite the process, please limit your personal items when coming to General Session on Wednesday and Thursday.

Greg Tomb, President, SAP SuccessFactors

Greg Tomb is the President of SAP SuccessFactors and oversees the end-to-end business for SAP's Human Capital Management Solutions. Greg has held several leadership roles at SAP including: head of Global Services Sales and the HANA Enterprise Cloud, head of Global Cloud Sales & Go-to-Market, president, SAP North America, head of Services for North and Latin America regions, and head of US Enterprise Sales. Greg also held management positions at both Accenture Consulting and Comergent Technologies, Inc.

Bill McDermott, CEO, SAP

Bill McDermott is Chief Executive Officer of SAP, leading the company’s more than 93,800 employees and 2+ million-person ecosystem in executing SAP’s vision to help the world run better and improve peoples’ lives. As the only American in history to lead Europe’s most valuable technology company, Bill advises world leaders and policymakers on issues including youth unemployment, digital government and international trade policy. Bill also serves on the boards of directors for Under Armour, ANSYS, Inc. and Dell SecureWorks.

Amy Wilson, SVP Product, SAP SuccessFactors

As Head of Product for SAP SuccessFactors, Amy oversees the Product Strategy, Product Management, Product Marketing and User Experience Design teams, comprised of 270+ people around the globe developing the industry-leading SAP SuccessFactors solutions for human capital management (HCM) in the cloud, as well as its on-prem SAP ERP HCM solutions, including the world’s dominant payroll application. Prior to SAP, Amy held leadership roles at Workday, Constellation Research Group, and Oracle.

Sarah Dunn, Global Human Resources Officer, Tapestry

Sarah Dunn is the Global Human Resources Officer for Tapestry, a New York-based house of modern luxury lifestyle brands, comprised of Coach, Kate Spade and Stuart Weitzman. She leads Tapestry’s HR function and is responsible for Tapestry’s human capital: 21,000 employees in 23 countries. Prior to Coach, Ms. Dunn held executive and leadership roles in financial information institutions including Thomson Financial, Reuters and Lipper Analytics. She also served on the board of Factiva. 

Mark Mitchell, Managing Director HR Shared Services, American Airlines

Mark Mitchell currently serves as Managing Director of the American Airlines HR Shared Services team where he oversees HRIS, Employee Data, Team Member Service Center, Employee Travel programs, HR Reporting & Analytics, HR PMO and VMO. Mark joined American Airlines in 1986 as an industrial engineer, switching gears to managerial and financial roles three years later. In the last 20 years, he’s managed airport teams in different leadership capacities across the country’s biggest airports including DFW, LaGuardia, and LAX.

Jennifer Morgan, President, SAP Americas and APJ

Jennifer Morgan is responsible for SAP’s strategy, revenue and customer success in the Americas and Asia Pacific Japan. Jennifer was appointed to the SAP Executive Board in 2017 to co-lead SAP’s Global Customer Operations. Prior to this, Jennifer served as president of SAP North America, where she helped earn the region its first listing on Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For. She was instrumental in securing the company’s receipt of EDGE certification for commitment to gender equality and equal pay in the workplace.

Arianna Huffington, CEO of Thrive Global

Arianna Huffington is the founder of The Huffington Post, founder and CEO of Thrive Global, and the author of 15 books. She has been named to Time Magazine's world’s 100 most influential people list and Forbes’ Most Powerful Women list. She serves on numerous boards including Uber, Onex, The Center for Public Integrity, Global Citizen, and Just Capital. Her last two books, Thrive and The Sleep Revolution, became instant international bestsellers. She is a mother, sister, flat shoe advocate, and sleep evangelist.

Stefan Ries, CHRO, SAP SE

Stefan Ries, CHRO and Labor Relations Director, is a member of the Executive Board of SAP SE with global responsibility for Human Resources. Stefan holds a Master of Business in economics from the University of Constance, Germany. Prior to joining SAP in 2002, he held HR leadership positions at Microsoft and Compaq. Stefan attaches great importance to a diverse working culture. To support innovation, he insists that appreciating people’s differences, unique backgrounds and personalities is a key success factor for SAP.

Michael J. Fox, Award-Winning Actor & Advocate for Parkinson’s Research

With a career spanning over 40 years, Michael J. Fox has starred in a host of prime-time TV series and blockbuster movies. He has won five Emmys and four Golden Globes, among numerous other prestigious awards. He’s also a producer and best-selling author. Diagnosed with young-onset Parkinson’s in 1991, Michael is a tireless campaigner for Parkinson’s research and Founder of The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. 

Frances Frei, Professor of Technology and Operations Management, Harvard Business School

Frances Frei is a Professor of Technology and Operations Management at Harvard Business School. A global thought leader on leadership and strategy, Frances is widely recognized for her dynamic teaching style and breakthrough courses optimized for rapid, lasting impact. She regularly advises senior executives embarking on large-scale change initiatives and organizational transformation, including embracing diversity and inclusion as a lever for significantly improving performance. 

Penny Stoker,
Global HR Services
Leader, EY

Penny is the Global HR Services Leader for EY, heading the talent function. Since joining EY in 2013, she has served on the Global Talent Committee and has built the HR Services team providing HR operational support for the organization’s global population of more than 260,000 employees. She is currently the Executive co-sponsor of the HR transformation effort to implement SAP SuccessFactors using organization standard process models as well as re-shaping the talent function including higher use of shared services models.

Mindy is the Executive Vice President of Human Resources with NetJets, the global leader in private aviation. Prior to her role at NetJets, Mindy held many executive leadership roles in companies including CVS, Luxottica Retail, L Brands and Motorola.
