The End of Stand-Alone Manufacturing Execution Systems/Manufacturing Operations Management? Extending SAP S/4HANA Directly to the Shop Floor

Many A&D companies struggle with the cost, complexity, and ongoing maintenance of integrations between ERP and the shop floor. Join HCLTech and Northrop Grumman for an insightful discussion of how the framework of Model Based Enterprise 2.0 can be used to plan for digital transformation across business functions and applications, not just within them. Learn how Northrop Grumman has used this framework to plan the implementation of SAP S/4HANA Manufacturing for production engineering and operations to bring a new level of connectivity between SAP S/4HANA and the shop floor – without integration! Why rely on expensive, slow, and error-prone custom integrations when you can extend the formidable capabilities of SAP S/4HANA directly to the factory? Without a doubt, this session will provide valuable insights from Northrop Grumman on best practices and lessons learned.

Lockheed Martin’s Journey to RISE with SAP

Lockheed Martin is in the early stages of a multi-year effort to transform the mission-critical business systems that enabled it to be the top defense contractor in the United States. This transformation is known as the One LM Transformation Program (1LMX). 1LMX is the industry-leading business and digital transformation effort that is enhancing the speed, agility, insights, and competitiveness of Lockheed Martin. By leveraging data as a strategic asset, enabling a model-based enterprise that spans the full product value chain, and streamlining systems and processes to both grow and run the business, Lockheed Martin is taking the lead in forging a more resilient, secure, and modernized supply chain for the nation’s defense industrial base.

Building upon the decades-old relationship between the companies, Lockheed Martin is leveraging the RISE with SAP solution to expand its enterprise cloud capabilities and introduce the tools needed to implement core business processes in managed FedRAMP-compliant cloud environments through the 1LMX initiative. In addition, the SAP Business Technology Platform, or SAP BTP, will provide Lockheed Martin with a secure innovation platform on which to develop emerging technologies. The SAP Analytics Cloud solution will enhance its strategic data management and analytics objectives.

Christine Fadrowski, director of IT, SAP center of excellence, and ERP applications at Lockheed Martin, will share the key decision points that led Lockheed Martin to adopt RISE with SAP, explain where Lockheed is on the journey, and outline the expected strategic outcomes and benefits that Lockheed Martin expects to achieve.

Walmart Uses RFID Today to Track Packages of Underwear. How Can RFID Ensure Critical Assets Are Mission Ready?

The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) is exploring modern solutions to ensure our frontline defenders have the right assets, in the right condition, and at the right time. Numerous IT modernization efforts are underway in Washington, D.C. to bring government workflows up to current with the private sector. Many DoD facilities still leverage technology and processes from the early 1990s. Our defense agencies need real-time information on where and in what condition assets are in order to make informed decisions to effectively support the mission. Leading private sector customers like Walmart have been forced to evolve to meet increasing demands of how customers want to procure and receive their orders. Walmart has responded by issuing a mandate to their suppliers to add RFID to existing labels for all goods sold in their stores. This allows Walmart to have real-time visibility into the movement of goods throughout the supply chain and in the store to satisfy customer demand and increase efficiency to offset a challenging labor market. This discussion will explore the DoD’s vision of their desired business outcomes and how RFID can be leveraged to meet current and future needs.

The Lyon Air Museum exhibit is comprised of authentic aircraft, rare vehicles, and related memorabilia, with emphasis on the defining event of the 20th century – World War II.

    Special C-47 Dakota Cockpit Tour

Attendees will get an intimate cockpit tour of the Douglas C-47 Skytrain or Dakota with a professional docent to educate them about the aircraft’s history and a few interesting tidbits. Below is a little history to bring you up to speed on the aircraft you will soon see in person.

    Little History

Transferred from the USAAF to the French in May of 1945, this aircraft continued to fly for the most part unmodified, unlike so many of its contemporaries. In 1967, it again changed ownership, this time transferring to the Israelis. There, it continued service without major modification, ultimately being sold to the civilian market, where it found its way to Lyon Air Museum as one of the most complete and original C-47s currently in operation. “Willa Dean” now carries the colors of the 440th Troop Carrier Group’s 97th Troop Carrier Squadron, complete with D-Day Invasion Stripes.

The Synergy of Robotics and Tracking Solutions Helps to Ensure the Production Line Has the Right Assets, at the Right Place and at the Right Time

Have you ever been working under a car and didn’t have the right part or tool handy? I still can feel my dad’s frustration when I didn’t give him the right tool as he struggled on his back in a precarious position. Modern production lines move fast, and they rely on having the right assets in the right location or they run the risk of costly downtime. SAP’s production planning capabilities also need to know that the right parts and people are available in order to support the planned build for the day. Tracking solutions for parts, tools, and people vary from clipboards, barcoding, RFID, and providing critical data, to production planning tools. Moreover, the strained labor market is forcing suppliers to turn to robots to reduce unproductive labor hours to push and drive assets to the production line. This discussion will focus on the current state of production line asset readiness and what organizations need today and into the future.

Practicing What We Preach and Deliver: Accenture’s Transformation Journey with RISE with SAP x SOAR

For over 40 years, Accenture has delivered value-creating SAP solutions for thousands of clients across 40 industry groups. What many might not know is Accenture’s own transformation story as a user of SAP. With 720,000 employees in 60 countries and more than 7,000 clients in 120 countries, Accenture is confronted with increasingly complex, global, and heterogenous business and compliance requirements. Responding to some of these new requirements often involved developing costly custom code and complex architectures to meet Accenture’s business needs.

To address these challenges, Accenture looked to re-invent the business and transform their data and technology platforms on the cloud. To accomplish this, they conducted a brownfield migration to RISE with SAP x SOAR, their end-to-end framework used for delivering SAP transformation services to help their clients achieve total enterprise reinvention through compressed transformation. Through RISE with SAP x SOAR, Accenture has disrupted the status quo with a modern, clean core built on the cloud, with a composable architecture that supports new technologies and integrates both SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition and other cloud-native solutions.

Today, Accenture has become their own best reference by fully transitioning to RISE with SAP, enabling greater agility, scalability, automation, and security across their enterprise. With RISE with SAP, Accenture has successfully evolved their SAP strategy to stay current, stay ahead, and stay secure.
