Judy Logan
Co-Director, Women in Data Science (WiDS) Conference

Judy works in the Stanford School of Engineering, in the Institute for Computational & Mathematical Engineering (ICME). She is Co-Director of the WiDS Conference, a one-day global technical conference featuring outstanding women doing work in data science, across a wide range of domains. She is responsible for creating a new conference model, turning the conference into a global movement. 

Prior to Stanford, Judy's roles have ranged from VP of Marketing Communications and Demand Creation at Netscape Communications to Field Marketing at Apple Computer, to Director of Customer and Partner Marketing at Act-On Software. 

Judy earned a BA in Psychology with a Business Concentration from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).

Gayle Sheppard

She has a proven track record in executive leadership roles with global enterprise software companies (Peoplesoft and J.D.Edwards), emerging businesses within Fortune 50 technology companies (Intel Corporation) and start-ups (Saffron Technology, MarketMile) where at Saffron she led its acquisition by Intel.

She leads the team focused on Customer Success, Cloud and Community collaborations leveraging Open source software innovations in Advanced Analytics and AI. Radhika is also the Co-founder and Director of Women in Big Data, a 9000+ global community focused on strengthening Diversity in Tech and championing the success of Women in Big Data and Analytics. Radhika holds Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science and Engineering and is currently pursuing COBE, a Business Excellence Program at Berkeley Haas.

Jen Guenther

Jen is a Sr Analytics Engineer at Netflix, where she provides analytics for and builds data products about Netflix's payments processing systems. She has more than a decade of experience in analytics, business intelligence, and data management, having previously worked in the customer service, sales, and product analytics domains.

Jen has participated in several Women in Big Data events hosted by Netflix supporting women in tech. She has always been a passionate champion for women's rights and equality.

Jen holds both a BA in French Studies and a MS in Information Systems from the University of Utah. She also likes pizza and the Golden Girls.

Fang is a Sr Data Scientist at Netflix partner and payments team. Her focus area includes A/B testing and machine learning techniques that improve user acquisition. Previously worked in financial industry, she has rich experience in developing model architecture for customer lifetime value, detecting e-commerce fraudulent activity, and providing personalized recommendation in customer service area.

 

Puntis Palazzolo

Puntis Palazzolo is a Sr. Data Scientist at SAP where she manages the SAP Big Data solution, SAP Data Hub, “developer focused” topics in her role in SAP Data Hub Product Management team.

 

She has more than a decade of experience in software design and development, machine learning systems and database technologies in different industries such as Bioinformatics, Military and Health Care and applications such as Handwriting and Voice Recognition, Image Processing, Natural Language Processing and Recommendation Engines.

 

Puntis has several research publications in the field of Machine Learning and Data Science and has patented ideas in the field of Recommendation Engines.

 

Her academic background is in Computer and Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Software Engineering.

Ayushi Agarwal

Ayushi has 5  years of experience in building scalable Big Data applications. She completed her Masters of Science from University of Southern California, Los Angeles, in 2016 where she majored in Data Science with primary focus on Big Data technologies, and Machine Learning. Currently she is part of PayPal’s Big data platform engineering team where she is the core developer of PayPal Notebooks, a universal data exploration and analytics platform. She’s also a contributor to Apache Livy and SparkMagic. 

Cynthia Wood
Data Scientist
SAP Ariba

Cynthia is a Data Scientist in the SAP Ariba Operational Procurement team. Her previous work focused on detecting suspicious activity on the Bitcoin Blockchain through a combination of graph analytics and machine learning. Prior to joining Ariba, Cynthia worked at Coinalytics. She hails from Tijuana, Mexico and received a bachelor’s degree from UC San Diego. Cynthia earned a Ph.D. in Computational & Applied Mathematics from Rice University. Her doctoral work encompasses combinatorial optimization and graph theory with applications ranging from neuroscience to logistics.

 

In her spare time, Cynthia enjoys outdoor activities, jogging, dancing and reading.

Asuman Sünbül

Asuman Sünbül is a seasoned Silicon-Valley-based Software Engineer and Researcher with 20+ years of experience in business and academic positions as Chief Software Architect, Business Lead, and Computer

Scientist. She is currently working at SAP Labs Palo Alto and is

responsible for AI/robotics and customer innovation in DSC Startup Accelerator.

 

Asuman has a PhD in Computer Science from the Technical University

Berlin, and wrote her master thesis at ICSI/UC Berkeley. She

furthermore (co-)authored numerous patents, pioneered several SAP products, published and peer-reviewed research

publications and is frequey invited as keynote speaker or session chair at renowned conferences.

 

Weiwei Shen

Weiwei is a passionate data scientist at SAP SuccessFactors. She studied BSc Econometrics and Mathematical Economics at London School of Economics (LSE) and MS Computational and Mathematical Engineering at Stanford University. Recruited as a member of the Silicon Valley Next Talent Program at SAP, she has built machine learning products for diverse business units and teams. She received a patent for her algorithms to detect and replace gender bias language in job descriptions as part of SAP’s Business Beyond Bias initiative.

Sally Lawler Kennedy

Sally is a design thinker and creative problem solver working in the User Experience field. She started her career as a Mechanical Engineer designing handheld and laptop computers. Along the way, she fell in love with user experience design. Sally has spent 20 years improving people's lives by creating delightful experiences that humanize design. She is the Sr. Director of Innovation and Design Research at SAP AppHaus. The AppHaus team is responsible for delivering amazing and unforgettable customer experiences which contribute to the growth of SAP. As an Innovation Coach, Sally leads SAP customers out of their comfort zones into innovative design-led organizations.  It was at SAP where she was trained and immersed in design thinking methodologies. Sally has taught and led design thinking workshops for some of the largest global companies, in a variety of industries. As a mom of two girls, Sally is passionate about introducing young girls to STEM and Women in Tech.

Shruti Bhargava

Shruti Bhargava is a Data Scientist at SAP, part of the Leonardo Machine Learning team in Palo Alto. She graduated from Stanford University with a Masters in Computational and Mathematical Engineering - specializing in Data Science. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Engineering. At SAP, she works on applying deep learning and machine learning to enterprise use cases. Domains which interest her include Natural Language Processing and Biomedical Informatics.

Michelle Mensing

Michelle is a Software Engineer & Design Thinker at SAP where she is part of the development team for SAP Data Hub and SAP Agile Data Preparation. Combining her two passions Michelle’s mission is to make data preparation a bliss for everyone: business user, data scientist and data engineers.

As a coach and mentor for Design Thinking teams, Michelle has successfully lead her teams to strive at local and international hack-a-thons, like the NASA Space Apps Challenge. Prior to joining SAP she worked in the medical and personal planning and transportation industry.

In her spare time she is serving as the assistant women national team coach for USA Beach Handball, responsible for game analysis and the defense.

Sanjana Reddy

Sanjana is a Data Scientist at SAP Conversational AI, a team which is developing a platform which enables developers to build chatbots which seamlessly integrate into existing software. Her focus is on making the engine behind the platform smarter using Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning. She specifically works on information retrieval and context management tasks. Before joining SAP two years ago, she graduated from University of Southern California with a Masters in Computer Science and worked as an intern with the Data Science Team at Tala in Santa Monica.

Sylvie is a data scientist at SAP Service Cloud Machine Learning Development. Her main focus currently is on improving the product intelligence via machine learning and deep learning techniques. She graduated from Columbia University with a Masters in Operations Research. Prior to that, she earned her undergraduate degree in Applied Mathematics at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC).

 

Binghui Ouyang

Bing is a data scientist at SAP SuccessFactors Business Intelligence team. Her focused area in Data Science is Natural Language Processing. Bing has more than two years of experience in building internal NLP Machine Learning products that help analyzing and understanding customer support cases within SuccessFactors. She is also passionate about data visualization and data dashboard web applications.

Bing graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with B.S. in Mathematics, and Masters in Statistics. She first joined SAP through the Silicon Valley Next Talent program where she completed several rotations with different product teams in SAP.
