ZEISS | How ZEISS scaled SAP Digital Manufacturing across multiple regulated sites – Lessons Learned & Best Practices
Carl Zeiss AG decided in 2021 to implement SAP Digital Manufacturing to digitalize and standardize production processes across three strategic business units (Medical Technology, Microscopy, Carl Zeiss Jena GmbH). In collaboration with integration partner Syntax, ZEISS developed validated MES templates for Workshop Production, Automated Production, and Assembly that meet strict regulatory requirements (ISO 13485, FDA Part 11).
Today, over 800 users work productively with the fully IT-validated system, connecting >60 machines and >900 non-human resources. The template-based architecture enables fast, cost-efficient rollouts while maintaining full compliance through a structured change management and validation process.
The goal is to further scale to additional plants and continuously optimize complex assembly processes using SAP standard functions.

Nobian | Mobile Inventory Management roll out
Nobian has implemented the mobile application SAP Service Asset Management to further digitalize its material management. In doing so, Nobian collaborated with Ideo as a consultancy partner, and after an initial implementation in the Netherlands, successfully rolled out the template to 2 other factories across Europe. During the session, we will present the mobile factory worker, how they benefit from the SAP SAM app and Nobian’s mobile technology roadmap with the SAP.
