The road towards the international ERPsim final
Get ready to embark on an exhilarating journey with ERPsim Lab. October marks the beginning of the exciting road leading to the international ERPsim final on June 6, 2024.

This is the chance for professors and their teams to gear up and showcase their strategic prowess in the ERPsim competitions. Developed by the non-profit organization ERPsim Lab at HEC Montreal University and offered globally through SAP University Alliances, these games will put the students’ skills to the test, challenging them to run a virtual company in a virtual market.

Your students will team up, use SAP S/4HANA and get a better understanding about business processes from finance, production to sales & distribution. To compete, students need to acquire SAP skills, understand key business processes, collaborate effectively with teammates, and learn to use live company data to analyze business performance.

Contrary to other business games, the only interface between participants and the simulator is a real-life SAP system and is created from academics for academics.  Join the community of over 30,000 players competing in ERPsim games globally each year and register your team now.

About the competition

ERPsim is a business simulation game and educational tool used to teach students and professionals about Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and their implementation. The Game was created from academics of the ERPsim Lab for other academics all over the world.

ERP systems like SAP S/4HANA are software solutions that organizations use to manage various aspects of their business operations, including finance, human resources, inventory, and production.

The simulation provides an immersive ‘learn by doing’ experience, whereby teams learn how enterprise solutions enable business strategy in a fast-paced, competitive game. The simulation game offers a fun and engaging way, to learn SAP and enterprise systems through gaming and competition. It creates a safe environment where learners can create solutions, quickly detect errors, and learn from their mistakes.

And what is it all about – to put it short: Learning by Gaming.

How it works

Each student on the team plays a vital role within a fictitious company in a competitive market. These roles can range from managing production and finances to overseeing sales and procurement.

Utilizing a live SAP S/4HANA system with a sophisticated simulation engine, you'll have hands-on access to the same system SAP customers use on a daily basis.

This software is your tool for making decisions and managing your department's functions. Throughout the simulation, you'll face scenarios where you must make critical decisions. These decisions could involve setting production schedules, optimizing inventory levels, processing orders, and more.

Every choice you make has consequences. The simulation provides real-time feedback, allowing you to see how your decisions impact the company's performance, finances, and operations. Be prepared for unexpected challenges like shifts in market demand, supply chain disruptions, or financial crises.

Students typically gather in a university conference room and play together. While the coach ensures the team can access the game, the coach does not offer guidance to the team during each round.  All coaches join the virtual coaches session that runs in parallel.

Benefits for students

  • Understanding Business Processes: with SAP S/4HANA you will learn how real business processes are being implemenrted by making decisions in every field of your fictional company including finance, human resources, inventory, and production.
  • Practical Skill Development: By actively participating in decision-making and problem-solving within a simulated business environment, you gain valuable practical skills that can be applied in your future career.
  • Real-World Application: SAP S/4HANA bridges the gap between theory and practice, allowing you to see how ERP systems are used in real-world scenarios, preparing you for the challenges of the professional world.

  • Team Collaboration: Working within teams enhances your collaboration and teamwork skills, an essential aspect of modern workplaces.

  • Critical Thinking: The simulation encourages critical thinking and strategic decision-making as you navigate complex business challenges.

  • Resume Enhancement: Experience with SAP S/4HANA can make your resume stand out to potential employers, demonstrating your ability to understand and manage ERP systems.
