Anthony Huang is the Chief Executive Officer & President of SSI Group, Inc., the leading specialty store retailer in the Philippines. The Group, which includes Stores Specialists, Inc., is the exclusive Philippine franchisee for more than 90 international brands including Bottega Veneta, Burberry, Givenchy, Hermes, Loewe, Kate Spade, Lacoste, Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Gap, Old Navy, Zara, Bershka, Stradivarius, Pottery Barn and West Elm, among others.
Mr. Huang has also overseen the Group’s expansion into the hospitality industry, with the Group now the exclusive Philippine franchisee for Shake Shack, Salad Stop, TWG, Venchi, and Heybo.
Mr. Huang is also the CEO & President of Rustan Commercial Corp., which owns and operates Rustan’s Department Stores, the only top market department stores in the Philippines. Rustan’s is an iconic name in Philippine retail, with 5 department stores in the country.
Mr. Huang has been involved in the retail and hospitality industries for over thirty years, through his association with the Rustan Group of Companies (RGOC), one of the Philippines’ largest family-owned retail conglomerates. Mr. Huang began his career in his late teens as a merchandiser for Rustan Commercial Corporation.
Mr. Huang was appointed as Executive - Vice President of Stores Specialists, Inc. in 1994 and has managed the growth of the Group from 3 brands to the current portfolio of more than 90 brands, retailed through a network of over 534 stores and 13 e-commerce sites.
Mr. Huang was also instrumental in bringing Starbucks to the Philippines, having negotiated the entry of Starbucks into the country on behalf of Rustan Coffee Corporation, another member company of the RGOC.
As a Board Member of Endeavor Philippines, Mr. Huang’s primary advocacy is the promotion of entrepreneurial innovation. In 2015, the French Government awarded Mr. Huang with the title of ‘Chevalier dans l’Odre de la Legion d’Honneur’ for his contributions to strengthening the economic ties between the Philippines and France.
In 2017, the Italian Government conferred upon him the ‘Cavaliere dell ‘Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana” award for his efforts in making Italian products accessible to the Philippine market and for continuously promoting Italy through his cultural and commercial endeavors.
Mr. Huang graduated from the University of Asia and the Pacific in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2022.
