SAP Enterprise Architecture

SAP Enterprise Architecture (EA) is SAP’s approach to aligning business strategy with the end-to-end application, data, and technology landscape across SAP and non-SAP systems.
It uses reference architectures, clean-core and fit-to-standard principles, and tools like SAP Signavio or SAP LeanIX Enterprise Architecture Management to design target states, integration patterns, and transformation roadmaps.

Small business, working at the office.

The SAP Enterprise Architecture Framework

The SAP Enterprise Architecture Framework defines Enterprise Architecture (EA) artifacts and practices for various use cases, based on established EA principles. SAP continuously evolves this methodology with input from customers and partners. It offers concrete modeling guidance and supports architecture governance.

EA principles provide practical guidance for guiding and governing architecture efforts. Artifacts, such as models, diagrams, concepts, or entities, represent various aspects of EA and are structured by underlying metamodels. EA practices outline techniques to utilize these artifacts, driving value throughout the software lifecycle.

Speaker/s:
Jason Taylor, Principal Enterprise Architect, SAP LeanIX
John Santic, Global Senior Director - Business Transformation Management, SAP

In this session we cover two key topics - the overview of Joule Studio and Knowledge Graph and how they fit together in the context system with Jason Taylor and John Santic:

1. SAP Joule Work takes AI to the next level in the enterprise by  introducing a dynamic engagement layer across the your business applications & Data.  Rather than simply responding to requests, Joule Work interprets people's intent, learns from the knowledge graph of your system, surfaces the right insights, automates routine work, and orchestrates AI agents across the enterprise, so they can focus on the decisions that move the business forward.  In this session, We will cover the What, Why and How behind Joule Work and Knowledge Graph for Architects.

2.  This session introduces the Context System  the five-layer framework that defines what agents need to reason correctly: Data Context (what happened), Semantic and Knowledge Context (what does it mean), Process and Predictive Context (how work gets done), Organisational and Governance Context (what is allowed), and Intent and Prescriptive Context (the company memory — how agents and humans act together).

Speaker/s:
Julia Kloppenburg, Technology Consultant, SAP
Gaurish Dessai, Principal Enterprise Architect, SAP

The SAP Business AI Platform provides a unified environment for building AI agents grounded in business context but where do you start, and what separates an agent that works in a demo from one that runs in production?

This session is a hands-on, show-and-tell walkthrough of building an agent from scratch using the SAP stack. You will see the full development lifecycle: defining agent capabilities, grounding them in business data and process context, testing behaviour, and preparing for governed deployment.

You will see the complete agent development lifecycle end-to-end on the SAP Business AI Platform, Understand the architectural decision points: agents vs. deterministic apps vs. agentic workflows vs. Knowledge Graph queries and   Walk away with a repeatable build pattern applicable to your own use cases.

As AI agents and MCP servers proliferate across enterprise landscapes, organizations face a defining architectural challenge: how do you discover, govern, secure, and measure the business impact of hundreds or thousands of autonomous agents? Without a unified approach, agent sprawl introduces unmanaged risk, architectural drift, and an inability to demonstrate ROI.

This session explores SAP’s end-to-end approach to AI agent lifecycle management, from discovery and registration through governance, observability, and decommissioning. Through live demonstrations and deep technical insights, you’ll see how SAP orchestrates its platform capabilities to register, observe, process-mine, assess, and map AI agents to enterprise architecture constructs, linking agents directly to business capabilities, value streams, and organizational context.

Whether you’re building agents, securing them, or justifying their value to the business, this session shows how SAP is architecting the foundation for enterprise-grade AI agent governance.

Every architect navigating the Autonomous Enterprise asks the same question: what does the target architecture actually look like, and how do I get there from where I am today?

This session answers both by covering:

1. The AI-Native North Star Architecture that defines how SAP envisions the convergence of AI, data, and applications across the full stack, the SAP Business AI Platform, Business Data Cloud, Joule as the unified engagement layer, autonomous domains, and Industry AI working together as a coherent system. It is the reference architecture that guides every decision from data layer design to agent orchestration patterns.

2. The AI Golden Path complements this with a guided journey from idea to production-ready application including detailed decision trees for when to use agents vs. deterministic applications vs. Knowledge Graph queries vs. HANA Vector Engine vs. agentic workflows vs. code-based agents. This session brings both to life with live demonstrations and worked examples, showing how these reference assets translate into real architectural decisions.

The Autonomous Enterprise changes what architects do, not just what they design. When AI agents execute processes, orchestrate across domains, and make decisions grounded in business context the architect's role shifts from system design to shaping the operating model, governance boundaries, and transformation roadmap that make it all work at scale.

In this session, we explore what the Autonomous Enterprise means for Enterprise Architects specifically: how decision-making changes when agents operate alongside humans, what new competencies become essential (context architecture, agent governance, cross-domain orchestration), and how EAs position themselves as the strategic connectors between business ambition and AI-enabled execution.

Speaker/s: Pascal Bornet, Agentic AI Pioneer

In this closing session of the series with our special Guest Speaker, Pascal Bornet, #1 Top Voice in AI & Automation & Author of the book The Human-Agent Orchestrator , We explore what it truly means to lead, govern, and scale AI-driven enterprises. Pascal Bornet will share insights from his latest book, and explore the deeper organizational, architectural, and human transformation required to operate in a future where humans and AI agents work together as hybrid teams.

During this session Pascal will deliver a short presentation followed by an interactive conversation that touches on:

• Why the future belongs to leaders who can architect and orchestrate humans and AI agents as one operating system.

• Why the organizations getting the highest AI impact are not simply deploying better technology. They are designing better management systems.

• The rise of Human-Agent Orchestration as both a new management discipline and a new architectural discipline.

• Why Enterprise Architects are becoming the designers of the autonomous enterprise — not just mapping systems, but shaping how decisions, workflows, agents, humans, and controls fit together.

• The Supervision Trap: why old management habits can turn leaders and architects into bottlenecks instead of enablers.

• How Enterprise Architects can help build autonomous enterprises that are scalable, trusted, governed, and deeply human-centered.

This is not a session about how to build more AI agents. This session will challenge architects and leaders to rethink not only how enterprises operate, but also how humans create value in an increasingly agentic world. Because the future of the Autonomous Enterprise will not be defined by AI alone, it will be defined by those who learn how to orchestrate technology, data, AI agents, decisions, and human potential together.

Speaker/s:
Dr. Michael R. Blaschke, SAP, Global Principal IT Architect, SAP

As organizations navigate their digital transformation journeys, Enterprise Architects encounter persistent myths about SAP's modern architecture paradigms. This presentation dismantles seven common misconceptions about clean core principles, SAP S/4HANA, and the Business Technology Platform (BTP). Through architectural patterns and real-world examples, we demonstrate how clean core principles extend beyond SAP S/4HANA, enable strategic custom development, and can be implemented before S/4HANA adoption. We'll explore how Enterprise Architects can leverage these concepts across different SAP editions while maintaining complex business process capabilities. Essential for architects seeking clarity on SAP's modern architectural approach and looking to design future-proof enterprise solutions that balance standardization with innovation.
